Dinner Tonight

Couponers Eat Healthy. I was reading Bethany's Blog here where she talks about the 7 Myths of Coupons. I thought I would share what I make for dinner on occasion.

* Disclosure I am not a good cook or experienced cook. I graduated from college in 2005 where I lived next to a Wendy's and was great friends with the 99cent menu. Then I lived at home for a year where my mother was an excellent cook and dating my husband who loved to take me out to eat. I am learning how to cook and use the crockpot quit often. That is the only way I can make meat with out drying it out.

With that being said... Tonights Dinner

London Broil - $2.74 for 1.39lbs
London Broil Recipe
3 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 cup soy sauce
2 tbsp vegetable oil
2 tbsp ketchup
1 tsp dried oregano
1 tsp ground black pepper
1 london broil (or flank steak)

Mix ingredients. Pierce steak on both sides with fork. Place in plastic bag with marinade and refrigerate overnight. Grill on low heat. We grill ours slowly and it makes it more tender. Really good!

Fresh Express Lite Cesear Salad Mix $1.00 ( It was on sale for $2.00 and I had a one dollar off coupon). 100 Calories a serving

The kit includes:
Light Casaer Dressing
Garlic Croutons
Crisp Romaine Lettuce

SteamFresh Bird's Eye Peas $0.35
From this deal at Bilo

Meat 2.74
Salad 1.00
Cucumber for Salad .99
SteamFresh Veggies .35

Total 5.08

This will feed myself, my husband ,a toddler and have leftovers for the next day!

Amazon Giftcards and your budget

Amazon is a great place to save money. They have a feature called subscribe and save, which is excellent for Pampers diapers if you live in a small town. I unfortunately do not get the diaper deals most people can in larger cities because we only have a Walmart, Toys R Us and random grocery stores.

I also use Amazon giftcards for organic items that either are not available here or just overpriced.

If you want to see how I earn Amazon gift cards check out this previous post

Also I have found Amazon shipments of diapers usually come the next day or two, so no need to chose overnight shipping. It also qualifies for free shipping because its subscribe and save!

Great Usage for all that FREE PACE Salsa

I am in a constant battle to lose weight since my sophomore year of college. This is one battle that I shall win! There is a massive Crockpot Weightwatchers list here and there are several recipes for Salsa Chicken.

This is what I am making for dinner tonight.

Salsa Chicken (4 Points)
4 servings @ 4 points ea.
1 lb. boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1 jar salsa
2 Tbs. Flour
Layer chicken and salsa in crockpot ending with salsa. Cook on low 10-12 hours. When ready to
serve, turn crockpot to high and stir in 2 Tablespoons of flour. Cook until thickened. I serve this
with rice (4 pts. per cup). If you have leftovers, shred chicken and put it in a lowfat flour tortilla
with fat free sour cream and fat free shredded cheese.

Walmart - Pace and Overage

As most of you know I hate shopping at Walmart, because of the store environment and it is over priced. I braved it today with my Pace coupons in hand.

The coupon is for $4.00 off any Pace Product. The manufacture is automatically going to reimburse the store $4.00, so it constitutes fraud on the stores behalf when they do not allow overage. Knowing that Walmart is not friendly nor do they usually have well trained cashiers I decided to use self-check out. I was fortunate that when it called for a key a friendly older worker came to help me.

I bought:

Ice Tea $2.31
Milk $3.09
Picante $2.96
Salsa $2.98
Salsa $2.98
Salsa $2.98
Salsa $2.98
Queso $2.98
GV Chic $6.97
Tostitos $3.98
Tostitos $3.98

I used 6 $4.00 off Pace coupons and 1 $2.00/2 Tostito/ Lay coupon.

My total was 12.19

Happy Tax Day

I am attempting to build my ebay feedback, so I figured starting small was a good idea. I have an excess of coupons that I wont use, especially Huggies. I don't care how much money I get for them. just enough to cover fees and shipping. I just think this will be an easy way to build my ebay feed back before selling bigger items. That and I tend to buy coupons from ebay, so this seems to be a good idea to see it from the sellers point of view.

I am always looking for ebay tips, because this is new to me. I used to sell books and dvds via Amazon in college, but this is definately a new endeavor that I want to learn.

I have an auction for 10 $3.00 off 2 packs of Huggies Diapers here and offering free shipping. If you are an ebayer, let me know what I can do to improve my ebay skills.

They offer is if you buy two candles you get a $5.00 dollar giftcard.

If you can't find the Target coupons, it is still a good deal to roll for giftcards.

The Proper way to do a Mail in Rebate

Today I bought Kraft Macaroni and Cheese Crackers at Bilo. They are regularly 3.49, but on sale for 2/$4.00. I had a coupon for $0.55 off that doubled to $1.10 off the item. The total cost in the store was $0.90. The mail in rebate is for $2.99, which means a profit of $2.09.

Kraft Cheese Crackers 3.49
One Sale for 2.00
Coupon Doubled - 1.10
Price in Store $0.90
Mail in Rebate 2.99
Profit 2.09

The most important thing is remembering to mail in the rebate. I am new at mail in rebates, so I try to concentrate on one per trip to the grocery store and immediately fill out the form when I return home.

Common sense and shopping

Recently I asked my sister, a highly intelligent person if something was a good deal. She said if it just sits its not a good deal. Which makes no sense to me; now that I have seen the light.

I rather buy something on clearance now and store it, then pay full price later. In the long run it saves you money to shop ahead and shop smart.

The product in question was Duplos from the Slick Deals Lego deal. I would rather pay a partial price now than full price near Christmas. It just makes more sense. I don't buy toys, just to buy toys, but I do put them away and save them for special occasions. It just seems like common sense to me.

Mail Today and Amazon Giftcards

Today was sparse in the mailbox, which has been a common occurrence. So during nap time I will be emailing companies again.

I did however recieve an order I paid for with Amazon gift cards that I earned, so no cash out of pocket.

I recieved

Nature's Source Product Review

Target has Nature's Source Cleaners on a price cut for 3.14 and there is a Target Printable coupon here. There may be other manufacture coupons out that you can coming them with for a better deal, but I am not sure. Still 2.14 for a Natural Cleaner is not bad at all!

I was fortunate to have two coupons for a FREE product from Kathi's Bzz Campaign that she is participating in. ( I however was not lucky enough to be chosen for this campaign, but still want to BZZ the product)

My only complaint about the product its that the products are not available in the Johnstown area, but this should not be surprising if you are familiar with the area.

I redeemed the coupons for the bathroom cleaner and the multi-purpose cleaner. They are not harsh smelling like most cleaners and actually clean quite well! I highly recommend them because the bathroom cleaner removed most of a rust stain that several boughts with a Mr. Clean Eraser did not dent!

Target Great Soda Deal and more

Sometimes it is more profitable to multiple transactions and at Target the cashiers are often very encouraging of this practices.

Target had a deal for Pepsi Products 5 12 packs for 15 dollars. Which made an excellent deal with the coupons from the Pepsi Frito Lay Promotion and Mountain Dew Bzz Campaign that my husband and are both participating.

Swagbucks Referals

I believe in Karma of sorts! I have over 25 Swagbuck friends. So I am inviting my friends to have a chance of having their referrals posted on my blog.

This is the first Swagbucks Referral she is a Mom of one.

I am going to post someone else's referral code twice each week this month.

Ebay Success!

I have successfully sold EVERYTHING I listed on ebay so far! I am only doing a few at a time, because I am new at this and getting to the post office with a toddler has proven difficult. Also, call your local post office if the Us Postal Service website advertises extended hours. I attempted to go yesterday, because the website said it closed at 7. When I arrived at 6:20 it was closed.

But this has proven a great way to remove things that are no longer needed or wanted from our home. Where else will people pay you to take your stuff?
